Web Organization

Vision

  • A technological ontology that matches that of the emerging philosphy it contains, through connecting the essential qualities of topics with eachother.
  • A web of ideas that grows organically towards a unified and good perception of reality through synthesis, not analysis.
  • "Dont search, anaylyze, and find pieces -- discover, evolve, and find connections, wholeness, and confluence."
  • Connections must be essential (the opposite direction of Topic Maps? Self-Organizing Maps?)

Organization

Each entry is represented by one topic.

Established Knowledge is also categorized in a traditional manner to preserve its structure for navigational purposes.

Ideas/thoughts/feelings

Established knowledge

  • Copied from e.g. Wikipedia

' Consistent with neutral, authoritative sources ' Only to be "qualified" and not opinionized ' Referenced

  • One topic per entry
  • Keywords
  • Wiki_words
  • Categories

Links

  • Qualifiers (keywords) reciprocally connect topics, such that topics with the same keyword link to eachother. Keyword links must be stored in the topic (not displayed on the fly) for link web to materialize and for performance.
  • Qualifiers should be intentional and relevant to the topic, providing essential direction.
  • Wiki_words in the text refer specifically to other topics.
  • Category links to sub-topics.

Navigation

  • Graphic representation of the keyword-hyperlinked web.
  • Topic Quality (prominence, popularity) in the web is determined by the number and ratio of incoming and outgoing links.
  • Hierarchical browsing of established knowledge in addition.
  • The main topic of the web cannot be "Main", because it has references to/from many internal TWiki topics. A new main topic "Hub" must have references from all "free" (non-categorized, not hardlinked) in the form of TOPICPARENT (?), which the adb script parses.
  • Only show Main topics when in Main web?
  • Classify topics by type (=> semantic)?

' Distinguish "established" topics by color code in graph?

  • Use IFRAMEs to avoid reloading the graph -- simplifies navigation and centers graph on current topic.

Bugs

  • "Attach file" deletes topic contents
